Remembered with Advantage was published to mark the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Solma-ri in Korea. In the last 50 years the Gloucestershire Regiment has ceased to exist, as have the Royal Berkshire Regiment, the Wiltshire Regiment and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment. Their successors are the Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment, formed in 1994. However the significance of the Korean War, and in particular the Battle of Solma-ri, is maintained as every member of
the Regiment continues to wear the President of the United States of America Unit Citation, won by the Gloucesters at Solma-ri. The author’s father wrote this book 25 years ago but this re-print has the first chapter added, which he wrote but decided to leave out when it was first published.
All the profits from the sale of this book will go to The Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum in Gloucester Docks, where the story of the Gloucesters in Korea is told so vividly.
