Brian Frederick Samways was born on 18 June 1939 at Poole in Dorset, he attended Branksome Heath Junior School and Martin Kemp Welch Secondary School. Prior to his military service, he was employed as a printer at Pitcairn Press in Bournemouth whilst attending Bournemouth College of Art as a part-time student.
On leaving the Armed forces he enjoyed a successful career in the security industry as a General Manager and Operations Director for several London companies before becoming a Managing Director of the security company he founded. He served as a Director of the Inspectorate of the Security Industry, Chairman of the International Security Association and a Governor of the International Institute of Security.
He now lives with his wife Val, in Dorset, and his three children and two grandchildren live close by. He still enjoys travelling and maintains contact with many of his former military police colleagues.
